Finding a Natural Treatment for Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in men worldwide. It is a cancer that begins in the prostate gland, which is part of the male reproductive system. Prostate cancer occurs when the cells of the prostate begin to grow and mutate uncontrollably, and although as of yet there is no cure for this cancer, if caught and treated early there is a 90 percent success rate.

Both red clover and saw palmetto are incredibly beneficial in the treatment of prostate cancer, as they both work to reduce the levels of androgens in the male body.

The androgens, or male hormones, are not the cause of the cancer however they do enable it to grow and spread. With a natural treatment for prostate cancer such as red clover or saw palmetto, these levels of hormones are decreased, thereby slowing or even stopping the spread of the cancer.

Another popular natural treatment for prostate cancer involves Vitamin D, as it is becoming increasingly recognized for its inhibitory effects on the growth of prostate cancer in general.

Various studies and research have been conducted on this issue, and all of these which have found that Vitamin D and the metabolites that it contains are able to produce certain inhibitory effects on specific receptors in prostate cancer cells. One study in particular showed that by consuming sufficient amounts of Vitamin D, prostate cancer patients experienced fewer recurrences of the cancer overall.
