The Importance Of The Male Prostate Exam

There are few that inspire more dread and fear then the mention of the male prostate exam. Most men who are entering there thirties do not understand the importance of the male prostate exam. It is one of the most important procedures that you can have done and every man should have at least one by the time he is fifty. The male prostate exam is the easiest and fastest way to detect and observe the health of the prostate. An early detection prostate cancer exam is as important as a mammogram is for women.

Prostate Cancer – The Silent Killer And Why You Need A Male Prostate Exam

If you do not get a male prostate exam you can be carrying inside you a disease so deadly and fast moving that it can kill you in a matter of months. The disease forms when normal prostate gland cells mutate and becomes cancerous. These small clumps of cells remain within the normal prostate gland and continue to build up. Eventually they will expand to the surrounding tissue and form into a tumor. This tumor can in turn become large enough to invade nearby organs and possibly into the blood stream then into the lymph node system. Most commonly the cells will leave and then attach onto other systems and cause the damage there which will eventually result in death if untreated.

Detection of prostate cancer is simple if you have an n exam, but it can be extremely illusive and difficult to detect otherwise. In addition to that it becomes increasingly common in men over the age of seventy with estimates as high as eighty percent. Age is the most common, but not the only, risk factor associated with prostate cancer. Other factors include diet, genetics, and race. Some of these factors can be limited by improving the diet and the overall lifestyle of the patient, but early detection is the real key to beating this disease.

There are several ways that you can help to prevent prostate cancer, the most important of which is to be sure that your diet has sufficient at least and excessive at best amounts of vitamin A, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. There also is several studies linking the number of ejaculations to the frequency of cancer, but these as of this writing are not founded.

The key with prostate cancer is to be able to detect it and get treatment early. The risk of this cancer is so high that every man past the age of thirty five should have a male prostate exam and start the detection process early.
