Reasons To Get A Prostate Cancer Exam

If you are a man and are coming up on the age of thirty you need to schedule a prostate cancer exam. There are many reasons that this is important, but the bottom line is that a self prostate exam is no where need as effective as a prostate cancer exam given by a doctor and their professional medical opinion could be the thing that save your life.

Why A Prostate Cancer Exam Can Save Your Life

Prostate cancer kills over 30,000 Americans each year. This does not count the number of people who are killed by undiagnosed prostate cancer. A prostate cancer exam can detect the presence of the cancer or at least if there is a danger and it could be present. The prostate cancer exam is so needed because just about every male is at a high risk to get prostate cancer. It is estimated that up to eighty percent of all males past the age of seventy have some form of prostate cancer. A prostate cancer exam can give doctors the jump on getting started for treatment of the cancer. Some times it can take years and years for anything truly malignant to develop, but in other cases if the cancer moves from the prostate to the lymph nodes it can become very deadly very quickly. Only by early detection through a prostate cancer exam can one hope to fight off this deadly and invasive cancer early.

While it may seem very uncomfortable to go through the examination, you have to understand just how deadly the disease is and how bad it can hurt you if you do not get the exam, imagine if there was an easy way to avoid and eighty percent chance of being in a horrible car wreck. Most people would take that easy way no matter how uncomfortable it would be, but people just do not see cancer as being as dangerous or painful as that for some reason.

You need to get the prostrate cancer exam as soon as you can, especially if someone in your family has had prostate cancer. The chance of getting prostate cancer is about twice as high if someone in your immediate family has had it before. This means that you are almost guaranteed of developing it, it is simply a matter of when. By staying on top of it with regular examinations you can keep the condition under control. Without these examinations you surely will be in much greater trouble.
