The Futility of Signs for Prostate Cancer

Signs for prostate cancer are not apparent until the condition has become fairly advanced. The earliest stages are without symptoms. A doctor can recognize signs for prostate cancer during a physical examination, but this takes skills and experience which lay people do not have. Besides, it is physically impossible to reach in to your own bowels and feel if signs for prostate cancer have developed! Even male doctors need others to check their prostate glands by clinical means. Further, check ups must be repeated at least once a year, because a normal prostate can become malignant over a period of time.

The signs for prostate cancer are not exclusive. Symptoms may be due to a reason that does not have anything to do with the prostate. Even if a physical examination reveals that the gland has enlarged, the inflammation or growth will hopefully be benign. A doctor can order blood tests, or arrange for a biopsy of a tiny section of the prostate, in order to find out whether the gland has become cancerous. Since successful treatment is so dependant on early diagnosis, there are no benefits in making any guesses about the condition, or waiting for signs.

Possible Signs for Prostate Cancer

Not everyone has access to regular medical care, and cancer can even develop between two periodic check-ups. Hence, there is no harm in being aware of possible signs that cancer may have developed in the prostate. The most common signs relate to urination. Men start visiting the toilet often, and feel that their bladders do not empty completely. Passing urine could be painful as well, with visible traces of blood. Overall, any changes in urine habits may signal the advanced development of prostate cancer.

Changes in urine habits are often accompanied by discomfort and pain in the pelvic region, with the distressing feeling extending to the back and to the lower limbs as well. The bones may be involved also. Ejaculation could hurt as well, though prostate cancer affects elderly men most of the time. Prostate cancer signs are not limited to the area of the gland. A general malaise and disinterest in food could also develop. However, no one should feel depressed at the frightening descriptions of prostate cancer signs, because regular medical examinations can detect the condition well before symptoms make their presences felt. Early stages of prostate cancer are relatively simple for doctors to treat, and patients can look forward to quick and complete recoveries.
